Alyssa Lynn is a third generation purveyor of fine antique jewelry and the head of Mary Ann-tiques. Founded by Alyssa's grandmother, Eleanor, the company was born in a small town in Oregon when Eleanor's neighbor inherited a suitcase of antiques. With no family to distribute the items to, Eleanor's neighbor sought her help in selling these unique pieces, which included a trove of fine jewelry.
Moving to California to be closer to her family, Eleanor brought along her suitcase of wonders. She and her daughter Mary Ann—who would become the company's namesake—decided to try their hand at an antique trade show in the Beverly Hills Wilshire Hotel. Eleanor and Mary Ann found themselves completely sold out of inventory within the first 15 minutes of setting up to sell their wares!
Riding a wave of enthusiasm for their initial success in the world of antiques, the mother-daughter duo decided that they needed more pieces and more information. Their speedy sales experience made them wonder if there were tricks of the trade they needed to acquire. Eleanor and Mary Ann dove into the antiques business and built a company of professionals dedicated to sourcing fine antique jewelry. Years later, they were reminded of their earlier naïveté when they saw one of the antique dolls they sold at that first show now going for a quarter of a million dollars!
Many years and many special gems later, Mary Ann's daughter Alyssa joined the business in 2001, immersing in the shared family passion. In 2005, Alyssa expanded the focus of Mary Ann-tiques, venturing beyond the beloved West Coast. She now sources incredible gems from around the globe and connects with clients at trade shows all over the country. Alyssa continues to steward the business, retaining the original vision of connecting clients to the beautiful jewels of their dreams that they will cherish for a lifetime or more. Alyssa is thrilled to expand yet again, bringing her passion for trade shows into a digital space to further broaden the company's community of antique lovers.
